I was all in when Carly slid into my DMs suggesting bird hunting for my photography exam. Fun fact: Carly was a maid of honor in a wedding I shot back in September, so when she reached out, I knew this session would be a blast. The best part? We headed to her and Lee’s recently bought camp in Crystal Falls—a cozy spot about an hour and a half away—and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

(Confession: I may have crept on Zillow beforehand to see what their camp looked like, but let me say, it completely surpassed my expectations!)

The whole vibe of this shoot was rustic, relaxed, and so on. From the first few shots, it was clear that Lee and Carly love spending time outdoors together. Their camp, surrounded by trees and trails, was the perfect backdrop for this lifestyle session. We can’t forget their dog, who might’ve stolen the show a little!

One of my favorite parts of the session was after the hike. Lee and Carly cozied up back at their camp with a fire goingand beers in hand. It was the perfect way to wrap up the day, and it felt so natural—just two people enjoying their time together. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like I was just documenting their everyday lives—and that’s exactly the vibe I wanted for my exam.

What made this session stand out was how natural it felt. Lee and Carly weren’t posing—they were just being themselves. Whether they were standing on their porch with drinks in hand, walking through the woods, or quietly enjoying the view, every moment was so real. Plus, their camp added an extra layer of coziness and personality to the photos. It’s always special when the location has meaning for the couple.

Thanks to Carly and Lee for letting me tag along and capture these moments.
